Roam Artisan Burgers

So it’s a Tuesday night and you get a hankering for a burger. Well if you live in San Francisco you’re in luck. Mosey on down to Roam for one of the tastiest veggie burgers around. And it’s not a Garden or Boca burger, not that those are bad I just don’t want to eat them at a restaurant. Roam’s veggie burger patties are house made, organic, vegan and gluten free. And if that is not enough of a reason to eat a Roam veggie burger, their artisan buns are custom made at a local bakery, the pickles are made in-house and they source their produce from local farms.

And there is no shortage of great beverages. The shakes are made with organic ice cream or organic frozen yogurt and the sodas are house-made and sweetened with agave. For the grown ups there is a nice selection of micro brews and sustainably produced wines on tap.

Oh, and as a side note, for the other two days of the week when you might indulge in a beef, bison or turkey burger, all their meat is 100% grass feed and humanely raised on open pastures.

Eating Out: Taboun, San Francisco

Some nights I’m too tired or just plain too lazy to cook. Lucky for me I live close to Taboun, A Middle Eastern restaurant in Cole Valley on Parnassus @ Stanyan. The menu is filled with tasty vegetarian options such as the falafel plate, an eggplant wrap and my favorite, the vegetarian combo.

The vegetarian combo comes with hummus, baba ghanouj, tabouleh, tomato cumber salad, falafel, dolmas and pita bread. It’s $7.50 and it is more than enough for 2 to share.

If you live near by or if you happen to be in the neighborhood, its worth checking out.

Leave us a comment or send us an e-mail about any great vegetarian finds that you have discovered while dinning out. We’d love to hear from you!

Eating Out: Rosamunde, San Francisco

If you live in San Francisco chances are you’ve heard of Rosamunde Sausage Grill. It's a fantastic little place in the Lower Haight. They have a small counter where you can eat, but most people take their order next door to one of two bars- The Toronado or Mad Dog and the Fog and eat their sausage with a nice cold beer. Yum.

I know, this is the Weekday Vegetarian, but at the bottom of a long list of amazing classic and gourmet sausages, is the lone vegan sausage.

To our surprise it was fantastic. Too bad we forgot to take the picture until until they were half gone!

They offer several classic toppings including grilled onions, hot peppers and sauerkraut. It did not taste exactly like a pork sausage, but it was absolutely delicious.

We’d love to hear your comments about any great vegetarian finds that you have discovered while dinning out.
